SMOOTH SAILING EARLY CHILDHOOD

The Early Childhood version of Smooth Sailing is currently enrolling!

The Smooth Sailing research team at the University of Massachusetts Boston is pleased to announce that our free autism-focused professional development program, Smooth Sailing – Early Childhood, is now enrolling and will be offered starting spring of 2025.

The PD program is open to early childhood educators who work with 3-5-year-old children in preschool, childcare, pre-K, or family-based care settings. The program is self-paced over four weeks, with ~ 2 hrs/wk of online didactic modules. Participants also receive one-on-one coaching via Zoom or phone on three occasions. Educators learn information about autism in early childhood from a neurodiversity-affirming lens. Educators also learn strategies for building positive relationships with young children on the autism spectrum, as well as tools for collaborating with caregivers and promoting peer inclusion. Participating teachers will earn $300 for their role and receive 15 PDPs.

Educators may enroll on a rolling basis beginning in Spring 2025. For more information or to sign up, please complete the short screening survey at this link: bit.ly/smoothsailingec. For questions, please email Josh at smoothsailing.earlychildhood@gmail.com.
